Yesterday was another successful brew day at Wooden Hammer HQ. Ok, mixed success, but the beer is in the fermenter and already smelling magical. The Belgian Tripel will be the third beer brewed in the BrewMagic system and though we missed the target gravity by a long shot (efficiency came out to 58%) we are very excited to see how it turns out. This beer still hasn't been officially named yet. We're trying out "Wooden Hammer Tripel" and a few others, but would really like to stay away from using WH in the name of our beers.
In the fermenter, we have Sledgehammer Stout which so far is a rich chocolaty dream land. It's creamy and smooth and packs a whallop of a punch. This is by no means a session beer. I would recommend saving up for a bomber of Sledgehammer Stout. This beer tastes better straight out of the fermenter than a lot of stouts you can buy at your favorite bar or liquor store. After a few weeks of bottle aging, we'll be able to see what a little carbonation does to this creation. This is well on the way to being our first launch beer.
In bottles we have Hop Hammer IPA. This was our first batch on the Brew Magic, and much to our amazement, we nailed all of our temps and times though we were a little surprised at how long the brew day took. Packing a punch, we loaded up with Centennial, did a First Wort Hop with Chinook and finished it off with Mt. Hood. We held back on the dry hop for the first run, but I have a feeling our next batch will get a heavy dose of something special in the secondary fermenter.
