Wooden Hammer Brewing Company was created in the fall of 2007 around the time of the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado.  In practice the company largely remains a concept and a dream created by two very energetic people.  The goal is to begin by developing a brewery restaurant which will serve as the flag ship for the company.  Once the restaturant has gained traction, and off site brewery will be used to further grow the brewing business.  The off site brewery will be grown over a number of years and progress through the stages of brewing on the local, regional and ultimately national levels.

The name Wooden Hammer is a combinaion of the owner's last names: Woodruff and Thamer (T-Hammer as he was often called in College).  Coming up with a name was a difficult process.  Huge lists were created and burned with nothing sticking out.  For a time, we considered using the name Lagerythmic, as a combination of or love for beer, music and math.  After months of trying to come up with a name finally one rainy night somewhere between Chicago and Miluwakee, the name came to me (Ken).  A quick conversation with Rob and it was settled.  We like the name because it represents us, strength and determination.  The right tool for the job.

Currently Rob and Ken work together developing recipes and sharing techniques.  Each brews on his own equipment, and beer is shipped back and forth.  This is how things will remain for the foreseeable future.
